About Cotton Creek
Studios
Sheryl Eggleston and Shannon Schmidt are a
mother/daughter team that design quilts, rubber stamps and embellished
treasures.
Sheryl Eggleston is a
self-taught artist from a family of architects, painters, seamstresses and
quilters.
“ I have been embroidering
since middle school and making gifts for family members. Over the years I
have designed wearable art, crazy quilting, appliqué, drawn thread work, as
well as commissioned custom quilts. My previous business of designing and
manufacturing art rubber stamps transfers well into the art of designing
quilts and embellished treasures. A passion for color, textures, and mixed
media products inspires me daily in a never-ending desire to continue to
create. My favorite techniques are needle turn appliqué over a pieced base
and then lots of embellishments to create a piece with depth and interest.”
Sheryl lives in the country
20 miles from Boise, Idaho, on 2 ½ acres. She tends an organic garden in
season, keeps bees, chickens, a dog and two cats. Along with her
good-natured husband, she is helped by her 4 grandchildren, daughter and
son-in-law. More embellished pieces, textile art pieces and developing
workshops are current and upcoming projects.
Shannon Schmidt comes by her talent
naturally. She is fortunate to be gifted in not only the creative arts but
computer technology as well. (From her dad-definitely not her mom!) Shannon
runs the Gammill Staedler Stitcher quilting machine with all its complicated
computer jargon and pieces like she was making a cake. If you want
beautiful custom work done on your heirloom quilt, Shannon is the one for
your quilt. She also is a first rate quilt designer and embroiderer.
Shannon grew up demo-ing product at her
mom’s first art rubber stamp store and excels at customer service. When she
is not chasing after her 4 children, she can be found sewing something or
reading about health foods, cooking healthy or keeping food.
New on the horizon for Shannon will be
transferring her Celtic Knot work designs into quilts as well as learning to
sew Irish Dance costumes. Attending Irish Dance competitions (Feis) with
dancing children will compete for much of her time.
